Every season brings a riot of new colors and crops to Serendipity Farms market stands. In winter, look for sturdy, nutritious greens like chard and kales, as well as more delicate arugula, spinach and herbs. This is also the time for sweet, earthy beets (don’t forget to try the greens—they’re related to chard) and winter squashes. Check the baskets for Meyer lemons, Bacon avocados, heirloom baby broccoli and a taste of last summer: sundried tomatoes from dryfarmed Early Girl and heirloom varieties. We also have preserves from the summer fruit, crisp pickled veggies and tomato sauce, as well as an unusual treat, cardoons. Peel and slice the tough stalks of these relatives of the artichoke, then either fry or steam for use in gratins or dips.

See you at the market!

Testimonials

“Hello – Thanks to Serendipity Farms! I am a regular customer at your Divisidero Farmer’s Market stand in SF and am constantly amazed at your greens and overall produce. I’m a market junkie and it really stands out with unique varieties of the freshest looking and tasting veggies I’ve seen anywhere. I love the way the spinach comes with “stems-on” in bunches, and multi-colored carrots and root veggies come with tops and maybe a bit of soil for a true “just pulled” feeling. For some reason your produce seems to last way longer in the fridge as well. I am a home gardner but still can’t keep myself from grabbing a huge bunch of rainbow chard or handful of arugula even though I have it in my backyard! It all just looks so good. Hands down the best produce I’ve found at any market…keep up the good work!”
